Barry Manilow announces touring break after 'pushing a little too hard'

Manilow recently recovered from cancer after undergoing a lobectomy in December 2025Barry Manilow is taking a break from touring after pushing himself “a little too hard.” The 83-year-old music legend announced on Instagram on Tuesday, August 25 that he is stepping back from live performances until October 8, after being forced to cancel a string of shows “Hi everybody — Barry here,” Manilow wrote. “And I want you to be the first to know that we’re going to take a quick break.” The singer had just completed a demanding summer run of 29 shows in 68 days, which he said took more out of his team than expected. “We just finished a fantastic summer tour,” he continued. “29 shows in 68 days. The shows were fantastic. The audiences were fantastic. And I sounded fantastic. But it seems that we were pushing a little too hard.” Manilow then joked that the solution was simple. “Now we all need to sit down and shut up,” he said. “So, we’re going to take a break until we return to the Westgate Las Vegas on October 8th. When I’ll be singing like a bird. I hope to see you then.” The announcement comes after Manilow cancelled his August 21 and 22 performances at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. “We’re very sorry but we have to cancel tonight’s and tomorrow’s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show,” Manilow announced in a statement at the time. Earlier this month, he also postponed a concert in Lexington, Kentucky, citing “unforeseen circumstances.” That show had previously been delayed following Manilow’s December 2025 lobectomy for his lung cancer.
