Legendary singer-songwriter Carly Simon has been out of the spotlight for a while, but she's now opening up about her tough journey with Parkinson's disease and cancer. At 84, Simon revealed that her health issues started with severe arthritis, which led to multiple joint replacement surgeries. However, her mobility continued to decline, and after a thorough evaluation at the Mayo Clinic, she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. To make matters worse, she also had to undergo surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma from her face, which affected her self-confidence and led to her withdrawal from public life. Despite these challenges, Simon has continued to create music, and her latest album, 'Comes in Waves,' is a testament to her resilience. The album features songs and fragments of songs that she had written over the years, and working on it gave her a sense of purpose during a difficult time. Simon's family has also been affected by cancer, with her sisters, Joanna and Lucy, passing away from thyroid cancer and metastatic breast cancer, respectively, just a day apart in 2022. Her brother, Peter Simon, also died of lung cancer in 2018.
