The classic car, currently undergoing restoration and conversion into an electric vehicle at Aston Workshop Ltd, was discovered to be uninsured while in the garage's care. Sheeran, who had entrusted the vehicle to the workshop since 2021, claimed he was under the impression that the garage's insurance policy covered his car during its extended stay. However, the court deemed him liable, resulting in a fine of £666, plus £100 in court costs and a £266 victim surcharge. In a letter to the court, Sheeran apologized for the oversight, attributing it to a genuine misunderstanding and emphasizing his intention to comply with regulations. The singer also mentioned that he had not physically possessed the car since 2021, as it remained at the workshop for repairs.
