Electricity Prices Shock: Nepra Increases Tariff by 75 Paise per Unit

In a move that is expected to impact households and industries across the country, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a significant hike in electricity tariffs. The regulator has increased the power tariff by 75 paise per unit, citing a rise in fuel costs for the month of June 2026. This decision will apply to all consumer categories of K-Electric (KE) and ex-Wapda Distribution Companies (Discos), except for lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, and pre-paid electricity consumers who have opted for the pre-paid tariff. The revised fuel charges will be reflected in the electricity bills for August 2026. This is the second consecutive month that Nepra has increased the electricity tariff, following a 34 paise per unit hike in May. The move is likely to put additional pressure on consumers who are already struggling with rising inflation and economic uncertainty.
