Historic Diplomatic Visit: Norway's Foreign Minister to Strengthen Ties with Pakistan

In a significant development, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide is set to embark on a two-day visit to Pakistan, marking the first such trip by a Norwegian foreign minister in over a decade. The visit, scheduled for August 13-14, is a testament to the growing diplomatic engagement between the two nations. At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Eide will engage in delegation-level talks to explore avenues for bilateral cooperation, with a focus on trade, investment, climate change, and education. The discussions will also delve into regional and international developments, paving the way for a stronger partnership between Pakistan and Norway. This visit follows a series of high-level interactions, including telephone conversations between Dar and Eide in March and April 2026, as well as a visit by Norway's State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik to Islamabad in May 2026.
