Lauren London joins Snoop Dogg’s story in emotional new roleLauren London is joining the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic but her role will be very close to the rapper’s heart.
The actress will play Snoop Dogg’s late mother, Beverly Tate, in the film Snoop. Beverly was a great part of her son’s life and helped shape the person he would become.
She was a church choir director and an ordained evangelist as she died in October 2021 at the age of 70.
Beverly, however, also played a part in the story behind Snoop’s famous name. The rapper has earlier said that his mother started calling him “Snoopy” because of his love for Peanuts and because she thought he looked like the famous cartoon dog.
After losing his mother, Snoop paid tribute to her through his 2025 gospel album Altar Call, which he dedicated to her.
Lauren and Snoop Dogg, moreover, have worked together before as she appeared in two of his music videos years ago.
Jonathan Daviss will play Snoop Dogg in the film. Myles Bullock will play Dr. Dre, while Camron Jones will take on the role of 2Pac.
The film will tell the story of Snoop Dogg’s life and rise to fame. It is set to hit cinemas in August 2027.
