Pakistan on High Alert: Monsoon Floods Threaten to Inundate Rivers and Cities Nationwide

As the monsoon rains continue to intensify, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of impending floods across several regions in Pakistan. The Chenab River has already begun to swell, with medium-level flooding reported at key points, including Khanki, Qadirabad, and Chiniot Bridge. The situation is expected to worsen over the next 24 to 48 hours, with flash flood threats looming over northern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. The NDMA has cautioned citizens to exercise extreme caution, avoiding travel to flood-affected areas and refraining from stopping near riverbanks or steep slopes. Motorists have been advised to check road conditions before embarking on journeys, while emergency response teams have been placed on standby to respond to any eventualities. The authority has also warned of potential urban flooding in several cities, including Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Lahore, urging residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
