Pakistan's Political Landscape on Brink of Collapse: PTI Chairman Calls for System Reset

The current system of governance in Pakistan has lost the trust of its citizens, and a reset is now inevitable, according to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. Speaking to the media, Gohar emphasized that the government's moral, constitutional, legal, and democratic legitimacy has been compromised. He pointed out that a key government ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has questioned the prime minister's election, claiming it was rigged. Gohar believes that the prime minister should have sought a vote of confidence to address these concerns, but his silence has further eroded trust in the system. The PTI chairman argued that instead of forming new governments under the existing circumstances, the people should be given the opportunity to decide through a fresh public mandate. He suggested that the Constitution provides a mechanism for bringing a vote of no confidence and that his party would consult its allies to reach a political consensus in the national interest. The debate about the system's collapse has been sparked by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's recent statement that the current system has collapsed and that problems cannot be solved through it. Gohar questioned who had pushed the system into its current state and emphasized the need for serious progress on public demands in the provinces.
