Pakistan's Provincial Conundrum: Weighing the Merits of New Administrative Units

A contentious debate has been ignited in Pakistan regarding the potential establishment of new provinces, with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan weighing in on the matter. Gohar emphasized that the creation of new provinces is a necessity, but underscored the need for broad consensus and a two-thirds majority in the relevant assemblies to facilitate such a move. This development comes on the heels of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's assertion that Pakistan's existing governance system has collapsed and is incapable of addressing the country's myriad challenges.
