The 62-year-old former talk show host was recently photographed in New York City during one of her rare public outings this year. When a photographer asked what she wanted fans to know about her ongoing guardianship, Williams delivered a blunt response: “I want out!” According to Page Six, Williams was carrying shopping bags and heading into a building while accompanied by a male companion. Her latest comment comes after years of publicly pushing back against the court-ordered arrangement, which began in May 2022 after Wells Fargo raised concerns about her financial affairs.  Attorney Sabrina E. Morrissey was subsequently appointed as her guardian. Williams has previously challenged the guardianship in public. During a March 2025 call-in appearance on The View, she rejected claims that she was incapacitated and insisted she wanted control of her life back. “It was my choice to get an independent evaluation on my incapacitation, which I don’t have it,” Wendy shared at the time. “How dare they say I have incapacitation. I do not.” Her medical diagnosis has also been the subject of conflicting reports. Williams’ care team previously announced that she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia. But in November 2025, a neurologist reportedly concluded that Williams did not have frontotemporal dementia after additional testing. Her team said they would “file legal docs” following the evaluation. For now, the guardianship remains in place — but Williams’ message hasn't changed: she wants out.
