India's Youth Rise Up: 'Cockroach' Protest Against Education Minister Intensifies

A wave of protests has swept across India as thousands of young people, affiliated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), took to the streets to demand education reforms and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The movement, sparked by a comment from India's chief justice likening unemployed youth to 'cockroaches', has gained momentum over the past month, with protesters camping out at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Despite a police crackdown on Monday, which left over 60 protesters injured and 70 detained, the CJP has vowed to continue their peaceful protest, with leader Abhijeet Dipke apologizing for not being able to protect supporters from police brutality. The CJP is demanding an overhaul of India's education system, including greater accountability for alleged exam paper leaks, and has made Pradhan's resignation their main demand after the leak of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) led to the deaths of over 20 students by suicide.
