Pakistan Foils Major Terror Plot: Security Forces Kill Terrorist, Destroy Explosives-Laden Vehicle

In a significant blow to terrorism, Pakistan's security forces have successfully thwarted a major terror attempt in the Wana town of South Waziristan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation, which was carried out based on intelligence, resulted in the killing of a terrorist and the destruction of a vehicle laden with explosives. According to security sources, the vehicle was being monitored for three days before it was targeted, ensuring that the operation was executed in a way that protected civilians' lives and property. The terrorist group, Fitna al-Khawarij, was behind the failed plot, and at least five of its members were injured in the operation. This development comes on the heels of a recent surge in terror activities in the region, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces, since the Afghan Taliban took power in 2021. In response to cross-border terrorist attacks from Afghanistan, Pakistan launched 'Operation Ghazab lil-Haq' in February this year, which has so far resulted in the killing of at least 684 Afghan Taliban operatives and allied militants, and over 900 injured.
