AJK Elections Marred by Allegations of Widespread Rigging: PPP Cries Foul as Results Emerge

The second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections has been marred by allegations of widespread rigging, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) claiming that the polls were influenced by external factors. According to PPP leader Sherry Rehman, polling staff in LA-27 were found at the house of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supporter, along with ballot papers. This has led to a heated exchange between the two parties, with the PML-N dismissing the allegations as a 'disinformation campaign'. The PPP has submitted evidence to the election authorities and is demanding a transparent investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the AJK Election Commission has announced that polling in Poonch division will take place as scheduled on August 10. The PPP has also sought re-polling at 45 polling stations, warning that it will approach the Supreme Court if its demands are not met.
