Pakistan Braces for Intense Monsoon Rains: PMD Issues Fresh Warning

A new spell of monsoon rains is expected to hit Pakistan from July 29 to August 5, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms across the country. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of urban flooding in major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore, as well as flash floods in local streams and nullahs. The department has also cautioned that landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution while traveling, especially during heavy rainfall. The PMD has forecast rain and thundershowers in most parts of the country, with occasional gaps, and has warned that heavy rains may cause damage to weak structures, including solar panels and electricity poles.
